WE GOT MARRIED

Episode 15

by YongSeo Couple♥ on Sunday, 18 July 2010 at 17:16

This is a summary of ep. 16:

1)At park, before they getting on the waist-twist thingy, Yong asked which one she's going to use (there were two types of the machine, the one you do while sitting on it and the other while standing):

Hyun: If you go over there...
Yong: Face to face? I feel shy.
Hyun (being our Hyun): what’s there to feel shy about?

2)At home, drinking their apple & yam shake
Y: You are as always....the best.
It feels so good to get some exercise.
H: Every day, every day!
Y: I wish I can do it every day.
H: Let’s, if possible.

Part One

3)They received a mission card saying: ‘Getting a driving license together!’ And in his backroom interview,

Y: Amongst our list (of things they want to do together as a married couple), I really wanted to get a driving license. I’ve been always interested in cars. When I was a kid, I used to collect model cars. It’s been my dream (to get a license) since childhood. The colour I want for my car is red. Ah! Hyun might not like it. Maybe white one for Hyun? But for me, red!! Hehehe, I’m just happy thinking about it.

Yong said to Hyun: 'I should get a driving license soon so that I can drive you school’, to which Hyun replied,
‘Really? That’ll be nice.’

Yong wants to get a driving license for a manual car (with this you can drive both types of car, manual and automatic. Sorry, not good at technical terms, but you know what I mean) and tells Hyun it might be easier for her to get automatic one (because in Korea if you are going for a manual one, you have to practice with this really big truck and the test is quite difficult, too). But Hyun says:

H: But I’m thinking... I should get the same one as yours!
Y: Why? (smiling)
H: Unnies will be jealous. I think they (3 members of SNSD-sorry don’t know their names) all got the license for the automatic car. Uhuhuhu...!
Y: The first lorry driver from SNSD?
H: Oh~ This’ll be fun!

Part Two

4)They made a bet on the exam (a theory test). If Yong lost, he’s got to dance ‘Tell Me Your Wish’ in full version with costume (Hyun saw his ‘performance’ in K-drama ‘You Are Beautiful’ and teased him about it) and if Hyun lost, she’s got to use banmal (informal way of speaking) for a day.

Y: Let’s make a bet.
H: A bet?
Y: If you fail the exam...
H: No, we shouldn’t fail! Mustn’t think about failing!
H: Then, instead of failing, how about (betting on) the exam results, like who’s got better marks?
Y: OK.
Y (if she lost): Shouting ‘I can do it!’ in a crowded place.
H: No~ that’s... (caption: dull)
Y: Want something stronger?
H: Yes! Something that will motivate me to work harder.
Y: ...If you lost, you have to talk to me informally (dropping an honorific expression, using banmal) for one day.
H: Heugeh ~! OhOhOh that’ll be really difficult!
Y: Why is it difficult?
H: It really is. I can’t even do that to my (SNSD) sisters.
Y: Then practice.
H: No, I can’t.
Y: You can do it.
H: No, never.
Y: Okay, good. Decision is made. You choose my penalty, too.

(Backroom interview)
H: (about dropping an honorific expression) I’ve never spoken that way even to my sisters who’ve been living with me for 5 years. Not even once in my life.
It’s in my mind (that she needs to speak less formally to her hubby), I’m thinking it, but it is just...Ah! (gesturing STOP)... it becomes like this.
Y: But sisters in law and husband are different. I think if she starts using Banmal (informal way of speaking), we’ll feel much closer than we do now (which is ‘Oppa-dongsaeng’).
PD: Do you want to hear (her using Banmal)?
Y: Yes. I’d love to.
PD: What do you want to hear most?
Y: ‘Yong! Want me to make you a yam shake?’ Hahaha... Something like that. Just little things...

(word-for-word trans. will be ‘Yong, want me to grate you some yams?’ But it makes Hyun a bit, actually a lot, blunt, don’t you think? ‘Galda’ literally means ‘to grate’ or ‘to grind’, but in their context it will be making shakes or smoothes).

5) Hyo yeon came to help their studies, did a mock test (Yong's score was better than Hyun's), and said even she's looking forward to hearing Hyun using 'Banmal'.

6) On the test day, she brought sticky rice cakes, a traditional gift(?)for a student before an exam. I won't go into details about meaning of the custom but anyway, it was sweet of her. While climbing the stairs, Yong said 'Good luck with your exam' putting his hand on her shoulder and she replied 'You, too.'
