HOW TO GET GOOD GRADES

By. Dra. Noor Hayati

Some people believe intelligence is the key, but actually brain is not the only answer. Top grades don’t always go to the brightest students. Sometimes, the students with high I.Q don’t do as well as the students with lower I.Q. Some people said that “ It’s not how long you sit there with the books open”, but the most important one is “ It’s what you do while you are sitting”. So how to get good grades? It’s no secret. Here are the tips.

What is more important is your motivation to study. Whenever you feel that you start to get bored studying, go back and remember the initial reason learning. Why do we go to school? It is because of knowledge, because we want to develop ourselves. Whatever the reason. It should be enough to encourage you to do your best in your studies.

Be sure to familiarize yourself with the meaning of every word.

3. Learn to classify your words into those groups that have the same meaning and those have opposite meanings. You have had an opportunity not only this classification, but also to widen materially the circle of your word-acquaintances.

5. Reading and translating any news or stories from any books, either books of science or novels, poems, song lyrics, etc. It can support your vocabulary building.

6. Read the dictionary as often as you can. If you use the dictionary intelligently you will find it not only an aid to education but also a source of pleasure. The study of words, the derivation, their meanings and their relationship can be made as exhilarating as the reading of story. By reading the dictionary will supply yourself for building vocabulary.

7. After you have acquired a sufficiently large vocabulary, now learn to use it by making as many sentences as you can. You will find that the very same words produce different effects in different settings or meanings. Through the methods of trial and error, you don’t need to be afraid of making mistakes. Try and try.
