108. Dra. Noor Hayati

ALL ABOUT ME
I was born in Semarang, and I graduated from SD Negeri Kartini Semarang, SMP Negeri 2 Semarang, SMA Negeri 7 Semarang and IKIP Negeri Semarang ( now UNNES ), but since I've married with a handsome man from Slawi in 1988, then I've lived in Slawi until now. I have 4 lovely children. The first one, Fadhilah Falah Syifa, a student of UNNES. The second, Hanifah Hasna Huda, a student of SMA Negeri 1 Slawi, the third dan forth, Asyam Syafiq Allam and Athifah Salma Husna, students of SDIT Lukman Hakim. About my husband, he is a teacher, too, in MAN Brebes.

I could say that I am a realistic person, though quite enthusiastic, at the same time curious and cautious, but practical and persistent, and generally quite optimistic. I love to be serious but I find pleasure in making others laugh. Some people might think I am fanatical, but I like to see myself as terribly romantic. Understanding things around me is what I aspire to and sharing my understanding is what I enjoy.

I
LIKE GARDENIN
G

I love gardening very much, though we got very limited space in my house, but that does not stop me from planting some flowers around my house.

For me, small garden spaces present their own challenges and perks. Whether you want to make your space look larger or just squeeze as many plants in as you possibly can, so you must be creative with them. When creating a small garden, every space is important. Where to put the garden, how large to make it and the choice of plants all must be edited, unlike with a small garden. Here’s how to take an honest look at your garden site and what you can hope to plant there.

I think, gardening in a small space has its limits, but it need not be limiting. In a small garden, I can pay attention to detail. I always keep on top of maintenance, while still having time to sit and enjoy my small garden.

I LOVE MUSIC AND FILM

When I was young, I like hard rock music very much. I always bought Cassettes for my private collection. Van Halen, Def Lepard, Bon Jovi, Genesis were my favorite Rock Bands. But now, getting older, sometimes I still listen to them, but it’s rarely. Now I like Korean songs and I love watching Korean drama, too. I have many Popular Korean drama DVDs for our private collection.

ABOUT MY BLOG

First and very important, the reason why I write this Blog is that I try to make my class and my students, of course, find something different in learning English, although at the first time I taught, they made me give up. I was never strong enough. Until on a dark and stormy night a force from ABOVE came along the way offering me the strength and inspiration to make this Blog.

It needs a few days to make a simple Blog. But then I am not satisfied with it. I think it’s too simple! I like the most interesting and colorful Blog. ( although my students said that my Blog is very interesting! Hmm… really??) But still I need a web designer, for example, to help me to design my Blog..... Is there any one out there can help me???

The next problem with my Blog is what I will write in my Blog. Fortunately, I like reading and writing very much, so I try to find some ideas to write and I have many materials from some English magazines, too.
And finally, I’d like to thank my family and my husband ( especially ) for their patience, support and encouragement as spending evening after evening at the Laptop. Many thanks

107. Home Sweet Home

HOME SWEET HOME

Basically it means there is no other place on earth like home. You would say "home sweet home" when you come back home after a long trip and you know how good it feels to be back again, you are really happy and it gives you that special feeling to be on your home "turf" again.

For my first daughter who still studies in Semarang, FALAH, says that Home Sweet Home is “a good thing about spending some time at my parents' house is that I get a unique opportunity to hang out with some old stuff of mine which used to be so important to me some years ago”. Still FALAH says, Home Sweet Home means,
• Bringing my memories back when I get there
• To be my mom’s assistant to do some house works. (It admires me to be an important person for my mom, she said)
• Full of entertainment. ( can spend the time for Music, Film and Surfing in internet)

Although our house is not too big ( it’s only 9X9M2 ) and there are 6 person in it, but we still prefer staying at home to going out. We feel warm and comfortable at home. And I know what they need at home and what they like to do in their own rooms.

FALAH and HASNA like staying in their rooms and enjoy with their Face book and twitter, while listening to the music. My son, ASA enjoys his own world. He likes playing PS2 very much. I can’t count how much he spend his money to buy the PS2’CD. And my little girl SALMA likes watching DISNEY CHANNEL on TV, likes playing SIMS Games on PC, and of course, playing with her Barbie dolls. And ME? I spend evening after evening with my laptop to do some work, correct my students’ tasks, write some materials on my Blog and check the e-mails, and of course, I watch Korean drama. Not only me, but we are all Korean drama addicts.

So, A home is not only a place where we return after going away, but "home" can also be immaterial in nature. A home can be made out of thoughts we always go back to or our assumptions about space and time we rest on.
